Future attractions have been rumoured for Hong Kong Disneyland ever since the opening of the park. While these rumours might not be true, it is still good to know what news is being spread throughout websites and forums. Here are some rumours that have been active for some time and have the potential to become true,

PART TWO

4) Frontierland
Ever since Hong Kong Disneyland opened there has been criticism about Frontierland as it just wasn't there. Being the fifth classic land, it is obvious that at some stage, unless Disney has lost all hope, we will see a Frontierland with some mighty fine attractions!

5) Haunted Mansion
The popular attraction located in every other Disneyland is also another rumour that has been flying around. The land the attraction would be placed in, is indefinite as the attraction has been placed in a different land at each Disneyland so it is hard to say where it could be placed!

6) Second Park
A second park has always been on the cards for Hong Kong Disneyland and is surely a long way off. But one can't help but feel excited for the park as there has been concept art drawn for a new Disney theme park already. Although this may not be part of Hong Kong Disneyland, there is still hope for the future!

In the lead up to the long awaited Pirates of the Carribbean: At World's End movie, Hong Kong Disneyland decided that the Park needed a pirate like overlay. Since May 4th, Adventureland has been taken over and renamed Pirateland by Jack Sparrow himself, the most cunning of the lot.

The celebrations for the movie begun with Adventureland receiving overlays for the Jungle River Cruise, now named Jungle River Cruise, Pirate Takeover!, carnival games such as Captain Hooks Ring Toss and Rum Tumble (a bottle smashing game) and tons of other swashbuckling jolly old fun!

Even the captain himself has his own performance, Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Boot Camp. Enjoy a barrel of laughs as Jack attempts to teach some rascals (guests) a lesson or two! If you're interested in your future, head over to Mirabella, The Gypsy Fortune Teller for all the information you seek to find! As the night comes to an end, experience the beat of the drums performed by The Doctors of Soul Voodoo Drum Show. Feel the beat!

If that's not enough, become an explorer and try your skill at the Treasure Hunt with prizes to be won! Don't stress about time as the park stays open and extra hour on Saturdays and Sundays for all this excitement! Along with tons of swashbuckling fun, don't forget to try the Pirateland food and buy some limited edition merchandise.

There is just so much fun to be had while the celebrations last. After all, they finish June 30th so bring your friends, dress up and go back to the days of the pirates with Jack Sparrow and the gang! Even the Disney characters are in on the fun!!!

While these rumours might not be true, it is still good to know what news is being spread throughout websites and forums. Here are some rumours that have been active for some time and have the potential to become true,

PART ONE

1) Main Street Electrical Parade
This rumour has been very popular. The parade is well known for running in every other Disneyland except Hong Kong Disneyland. There have also been mention of the parade by the parades theme composer in an interview.

2) Peter Pan's Flight
This attraction hasn't been mentioned as much as others but surely it must be coming sometime as it was another one of the forgotten 1955 original attractions. It also has a good probability of going to Hong Kong Disneyland as it has proved to be so popular.

3) Pirates of the Caribbean
The rumours for pirates attractions has become enormous. There have been rumours such as the attraction having a Splash Mountain design or that there will be a new Pirates of the Caribbean new themed land which will include the original attraction with other smaller attractions with a water show based on Fantasmic! located at Disney-MGM Studios. These rumours also appear to have a good probablility of becoming a reality as there have already been concepts drawn for a pirate themed adventure. They could well be for another park though.

As most fans are aware, Disney has recently unveiled the plans for not one but THREE new attractions. Here is some information regarding the new excitement to come!

Animation Academy - Summer 2007

Situated next to The Disneyland Story, Animation Academy will help visitors to draw their favourite Disney characters and get an insight into what animation at Disney is really like. The attraction is set to open in summer 2007.

Mickey's WaterWorks - Summer 2007

Mickey's WaterWorks is a new interactive parade set to also be open in summer 2007. Based around a garden watering theme, the parade will make a splash (literally) down Main Street U.S.A. each day, splashing visitors and cooling them down. After all, high humidity in Hong Kong is a regular in summer! The floats will include the usual characters such as Donald's Plant Food Machine, Mickey's Magic Colourizer Machine, Goofy's Watering Machine and Minnie's Flower Fragrance Machine. Get set to get wet!

It's a Small World - Summer 2008

It's a Small World is finally coming to Hong Kong Disneyland, set to open in 2008. It is now well under construction behind Mad Hatter Tea Cups in Fantasyland, and is on it's way to being the most unique version of the ride in the world. The ride will feature many new features not found in any other versions. Some features of the new ride will include,

1) Over 30 Disney characters integrated into the attraction, including Aladdin, Mulan and Peter Pan.
2) An expanded Asia section which will include famous regional landmarks such as the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven and the Hong Kong skyline.
3) A Middle Eastern scene.
4) A new North American scene not even found in North America.
5) A grand finale with optical effects not found on any other Disney ride.

Hong Kong Disneyland will really have some new and unique attractions once these THREE new ones are open. Of course, here at Hong Kong Disney Talk, we'll keep you updated. Maybe not always, but we'll certainly tell you a lot about what to expect for the coming years. One can't help but get excited for the future, Tomorrowland style! It's a Small World after all!

Tomorrowland Overview

The future offers new frontiers in science, adventure and ideals, the challenge of outer space and the hope for a peaceful and unified world. In Tomorrowland, that dream inspires fantastic Disney adventures.

Welcome to the future. Tomorrowland is possibly the best place for the dreamers to dream and the risk takers to risk. As you enter this land you see spaceships flying, cars driving and you might even get a "buzz" from Buzz Lightyear himself (Telephone Call, get it? No? OK then...).

The first form of transport you'll see in this futuristic land is the Orbitron. You can fly as high as the sky around planets in these cool little space pods. You can see as far as they eye can see and get a high in the sky view of Space Mountain itself!

"What's that you say? I say let me hear your funky chicken! What's that you say"?
"NO! I didn't say that you fool. I said... Lets go see Space Mountain!"
"OK then. Sorry."

Well, as you approach Space Mountain you'll be sure to look in awe. The fastest and best rollercoaster in the park awaits you. Found at every Disneyland around the world, this ride is a thrill seekers pick of the crop. This ride takes you on a two minute journey around the universe with a synchronised soundtrack playing as you fly past astronauts, spaceships and planets. This ride is very tame and can be enjoyed by everyone, even if you aren't a fan of rollercoasters! The ride has the same layout as the other Disneyland parks around the world* but the Hong Kong version has better effects throughout the ride.

There are attractions everywhere to be enjoyed by everyone. But one attraction that really stands out is Stitch Encounter, an interactive experience similar to Turtle Talk with Crush found at Disney's California Adventure and other parks.

This attraction involves Stitch, the mischievous little blue alien from the movie itself, Lilo and Stitch. He takes you on an adventure like no other. But the thing that sets this attraction from all the rest is the interactive feature where Stitch can actually talk and communicate with audience members bringing joy and amazement from all cultures who visit this park. It's even better because there are multiple shows in multiple languages so everyone can understand what's going on. The shows are roughly nine times a day in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

But be warned, this attraction seems to be the biggest hit in the park so expect to wait for hours to see it (Be careful or you might not be able to see it at all). The best way to see this show, is to collect a Fastpass the moment you enter the park. It'll be worth it!

Tomorrowland really is a great area of the park, and even better at night. The area floods with lights and sounds as the moon rises and is a futuristic experience not to be missed at all. Journey into tomorrow, by entering Tomorrowland!

*Although other Disney parks sometimes redo the theming and layout of their version of the ride, often to be used as part of selected celebrations like Rockin' for example.

Adventureland Overview

Venture deep into the heart of uncharted jungles. Exotic adventures wait around every river bend. Romance and mystery thrive in this land that captures the intrigue of the world's exotic tropical regions. Cruise hippo filled rivers, explore overgrown jungles and scale the heights of Tarzan's Treehouse as you journey into the mysterious area of Adventureland.

Welcome to Adventureland where mystery awaits for everyone no matter how old you are. As you enter under the sign and turn left you can experience Festival of the Lion King. Experience this amazing show that depicts the life of Simba the lion cub. The vibrant collaboration of performers, stunning costumes and exotic scenery, really makes this a great show for everyone to see.

As you have probably noticed there is a snaking amazon like river that flows through the land. This is where the Jungle River Cruise explores. Take the journey along the river and encounter giraffe's, elephants, monkeys and other wild animals. This ride is very popular in Disney parks although this version is very different. In Adventureland at the California park, the ride is separate to the Rivers of America which flows around Frontierland and Adventureland. But for the Hong Kong version, the ride is based on the Rivers of America therefore deleting Frontierland including all attractions, Mark Twain Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island all from the park but it does give a greater space for it to go around.

The island that the Jungle River Cruise motors around is named Tarzan Island which houses Tarzan's Treehouse the three storied bungalow where you can discover knick knacks and other fascinating objects that Tarzan probably uses throughout his jungle like life. But if you wonder how you get there, easy! Just take the Rafts to Tarzan Island. These log rafts which carrying plenty of eager explorers, drift slowly across the river to Tarzan Island. A relaxing ride although you better watch out for the Jungle River Cruise boat!

If you and your kids are too worn out for any more exploring, cool down at the Liki Tiki's water play area. Join in the jungle beats as you get blasted with water! Then if your ready for some shopping, drop into the Professor Porter's Trading Post shop where you can take home your very own piece of the jungle!

Fantasyland Overview

A timeless realm of imagination and enchantment where dreams come true. Beyond the drawbridge that leads into a fairy tale castle, classic stories are magically brought to life. A lot of pixie dust ensures that Fantasyland will be the number one stop for anyone who goes to the Park.

As you walk down Main Street U.S.A., you'll notice the rather magical and famous icon. This (for the non Disney fans out there) is Sleeping Beauty Castle, which is the gateway to Fantasyland. Probably the most photoed icon in the park, the castle also appears in every other Disneyland around the world but they are all a little different. Hong Kong Disneyland's castle appears to be a direct replica of the original 1955 Disneyland's castle. Never the less, EVERY Disney fanatic knows what it is!

As you pass through the gateway, you are now in the heart of the land. Fantasyland is well known for it's circular motion attractions and that is just what you see first. There are three of these rides in the area but first you see Cinderella Carousel. But there isn't much to say about this quaint attraction as all carousels are the same. If you turn to your left and walk a little way, you come to the entrance of Mickey's PhilharMagic. The attraction is a 3D show (although it includes 4D features) with Mickey as your host. Watch in amazement as all of your favourite characters jump off the screen and into your world for a heart warming 15 minute show.

As you move out of the attraction you come across Dumbo the Flying Elephant who takes you on a fun loving journey around and around Timothy Mouse. As you head further to the right of Fantasyland you come across Fantasyland Station which is the second and only other stop on the Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad. Next to the Station is the next attraction which is like none other in the world. Fantasy Gardens is like a huge character meet and greet. Take a stroll around the gardens while meeting your famous friends such as Mickey, Donald and even characters who fit in well with the Asian park such as Mulan and Mushu. Fantasy Gardens is possibly one of the best attractions and should be visited by all. Next to Fantasy Gardens is the last circular motion attraction in Fantasyland, Mad Hatter Tea Cups. The ride, based around the whimsical happenings of Alice in Wonderland, allows people to spin their tea cups around and around and as fast or as slow as they want. This was one of the original 1955 attractions and is well worth it.

The next attraction along is a unique Disneyland attraction (but not if you include the Disney Cruises). The Golden Mickey's at Disney's Storybook Theatre is a well shortened version of the Disney Cruise one. The show features just about all of the Disney stars in a star studded performance including characters from Snow White to The Little Mermaid. This Hollywood style musical show is a great show but it tends to drag on. Thankfully it has been shortened from a 60 minute to a 30 minute show. It is a nice attraction though.

Heading back towards the castle, you'll find one of the best rides in Fantasyland. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh takes visitors on the life and journey of the world renound cuddly bear. Right now, Disney fans are probably thinking, "This is a new park with new imagineering techniques so the ride must be like Tokyo's version". Sadly the ride doesn't include the self guided honey pots (ride vehicles) but is still a barrel of fun for everyone who loves the bear! This is a Fastpass attraction so use it wisely.

Throughout Fantasyland there are some other small scattered attractions like Sword in the Stone and Snow White Grotto, but if you are tight for time, these details don't really matter. On the other hand, if you're at the park and have nothing else to do, check them out because they do have their little surprises and delights!

All in all, Fantasyland sure is a well thought out land in the park and will amaze people all around the world. From the excitement of the big attractions to the cuteness of the small ones, Fantasyland is your land!

Main Street U.S.A. Overview

Welcome to the crossroads of an era. Step onto Main Street U.S.A. where time seems to slow down amid the sweet smells of fresh baked goods and candies and the soft glow of street lamps. Main Street brings to life the typical American town of the early 1900s and serves as a fitting backdrop to a variety of charming shops and restaurants, as well as lively marching bands and parades.

Welcome to Main Street Hong Kong style. Just like any other Disney park, Main Street is the first land you enter as you go under the Railroad*. On the left sits The Disneyland Story, How Mickey Mouse came to Hong Kong. In here you can see original artwork, artifacts and rare footage from the creation of Mickey Mouse to a creation of Hong Kong Disneyland, with a good look into what the future holds.

As we move along Main Street, we can catch a ride on one of the Main Street Vehicles. This form of transportation takes you down Main Street into the hub of the park. Either catch the Omnibus (great for a high view of Main Street), the Paddy Wagon or Taxi. If you decide not to ride these old vehicles, you can do what Main Street is renowned for... Shopping! Have a great time spending your money on plush toys, photo frames, lollies and so much more in shops like the Emporium or Midtown Jewelry. It's the place to find that special gift for someone.

If you haven't had enough of this land then it's time to see the much loved Disney on Parade. Watch as the floats make their way through Fantasyland and into Main Street with an array of sights and sounds. Watch as Alice In Wonderland, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse go by waving to the audience happy as can be. This is a great attraction for everyone to enjoy!

To conclude the night the must see event is the famous Disney in the Stars. Watch the spectacular fireworks show choreographed with Disney music from Peter Pan to Aladdin. Let your dreams come true with this one of a kind Disney touch.

*Excluding Tokyo Disneyland as Main Street USA in Japan is actually referred to as World Bazaar. You can't enter under the tracks in this park either on the account of no such railroad exists in World Bazaar.

Hong Kong Disneyland Overview

Welcome aboard the Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad taking you on a round the park circuit of Hong Kong Disneyland. Our next stop is Fantasyland Station. We ask that you stay seated until the Train has come to a complete stop. Thankyou!

Disneyland opened in September 2005 and is the first Theme Park inside the Resort. The park features four lands that consist of Main Street U.S.A., Adventureland, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

As you may have picked up being a Disney fan, there is no Frontierland which was just one of the things that amounted to the biggest criticism brawl in Disney history. Not really but many things went wrong for the first year of operation.

The first item on the criticism agenda was the lack of attractions. The park ran just over 20 attractions when it opened compared to Disneyland in California which now has over 60 attractions open. That was quickly changed as they then added a Tomorrowland extension which included interactive and water play areas.

Disneyland has since planned plenty of future attractions including "it's a small world" which has been reported under construction already. Other attractions planned are Peter Pan's Flight and Big Thunder Mountain. More news on these another time.

There were also alot of problems with the Mainland Chinese. One third of the entrants to Disneyland on opening day were Mainlanders. Some of them had very poor etiquette which included offences such as urinating in flower beds, cutting through queue lines and spitting in public.

But back on track. The good news for foreigners is that most of the shows and performances are either shown in English, Cantonese or Putonghua. This is what really sets this park out from the rest. It's so new and international but after all, Hong Kong is the gateway to the world!

Other than the minor troubles, Hong Kong Disneyland has turned into the latest and greatest Disney Park that offers so many new experiences and dreams for everyone. From the newly paved Main Street U.S.A. to the drastically changed Jungle River Cruise and Adventureland area, Hong Kong Disneyland is the place to be!
